Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Precast (“the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information. Precast is developed by Paul Sprangers.

Overview

Precast helps you preview podcast episodes, add markers at specific timestamps, and attach notes to those markers or the episode itself. These markers and notes can then easily be shared with podcast producers. All your data stays on your device unless you choose to share it.

Precast does not collect analytics or track your activity.
Precast stores all information locally on your iPhone using Apple’s SwiftData framework.
You control what is shared through the iOS share sheet (e.g., by Mail, Messages, or WhatsApp).
We do not sell, rent, or otherwise disclose your personal information.

Information We Store

Precast keeps only the information you create inside the app and only stores this in the app:

Episode URLs, files, metadata and titles – podcast episodes you choose to preview.
Markers – timestamps you add to indicate sections that need attention.
Notes – text you attach to markers or episodes.

Sharing

You can choose to share notes or markers using the iOS share sheet. When you do, the selected information is sent directly to the chosen app or contact (e.g., via Mail or Messages). Precast does not see, collect, or transmit the contents of those shared messages.

Crash Logs and Diagnostics

If you’ve enabled “Share with App Developers” or “Share iPhone Analytics” in your iOS settings, Apple may share anonymized crash or performance data with us through its developer portal. This data does not include personally identifiable information.

Data Retention

All information you create remains on your device until you delete it. You can remove episodes, markers, or notes at any time within the app, or delete the app to remove all data completely. If iCloud sync is enabled, deleting the app may not remove iCloud-stored data until you delete it from your iCloud account.

Security

Your data is stored securely using Apple’s system-level protections. We rely on iOS and iCloud security mechanisms such as encryption and sandboxing. No data is transmitted to third-party servers operated by us or anyone else.

Your Rights and Choices

You can delete any episode, marker, or note at any time within the app.
You can disable iCloud sync in your device settings if you prefer to keep all data local.
You can delete the app to remove all locally stored information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if the app’s functionality changes. The most recent version will always be available on our website or inside the app. Material changes will be clearly indicated by updating the “Effective date” above.
